The genealogy research of Minnie Lucile KNOX
is a corner stone of our family tree branches holding the
EDGAR, KNOX and TISDALE families. Her research is credited under
"184. KNOX Research of Minnie Lucile KNOX, Kathy KNOX MILLER"
in the Family Tree Database.
The excellent quality of Lucile's research is based on documentation and observation. As Robert Merritte WEBB wrote: "We
are always looking for sources, confirmations and verifications. On the other hand, Annie was Henry’s daughter, his first child
with his second wife, Tabitha Jane Brown. Annie was born in 1859, and her father didn’t die until 1908 when Annie was 49
years old. She had plenty of opportunities to interact directly with him and with her mother who died in 1889 when Annie was
about 30 years old. Annie was Lucile’s paternal grandmother. Annie didn’t die until 1939 when Lucile was 27 years old.
Considering that Zella and Lucile moved back to Coleman, Texas soon after WTK, Jr. died in 1918, and Lucile grew up in that
community, it’s easy to envision that Lucile had frequent interactions with her grandmother, Annie, and with other family
members there. Thus, it seems appropriate to give the benefit of the doubt and the presumptions of accuracy and credibility
to Lucile’s records. Not that they are necessarily all exactly correct and/or complete. But, it’s certain she didn’t just 'hear
about' those things, miles and/or generations away. She was there! And, she was probably in close and frequent contact with
Henry’s daughter, Annie, and others." email from Robert Merritte WEBB to Kathy KNOX MILLER on September 6, 2010
"When Lucile died, she left to me in her will all of the Knox side of her genealogical research [including the family bible]. I don't
know who received the Tisdale portion… Lucile died in 1976 and I was 25 when I received her stuff in 1977." email from Kathy
