CURRENT RESEARCH ON ADAM EDGAR's BRANCH

• Adam EDGAR's Ancestor's

Although, we had not been able to determine any connectivity with our Adam EDGAR ancestry in Chester County, it has long

been known there was an extended EDGAR family in Abbeville County, SOUTH CAROLINA in the early 1800s.  A John

EDGAR, Sr. and a John EDGAR, Jr. are documented by wills they left in Abbeville County.  Some descendants in that line went

to GEORGIA from SOUTH CAROLINA; and others went elsewhere.  In July 2011, one of the male descendants from that line,

the Rev. R. Richard EDGAR of Alexandria, VIRIGNIA, submitted a sample for Y-DNA testing.  The results showed a strong

match with our Adam EDGAR line, possibly connected as recently as approximately six (6 )generations back from the sample

providers.  There are many possibilities, four of which are as follows:

• Their John EDGAR, Sr. was our Adam EDGAR’s brother

• Their John EDGAR, Sr. was our Adam EDGAR’s uncle

• Their John EDGAR, Sr. was our Adam EDGAR’s nephew

• Their John EDGAR, Sr. was our Adam EDGAR’s cousin

Those are based on the possibility that our connection with their line (thus, our possible MRCA) was at our Adam EDGAR’s

father or grandfather.  That connection could be farther back then those possibilities.  But based on the recent Y-DNA

analyses, we now know there was a definite connection and not too very far back.
